MINIMIZE YOUR OPERATING COSTS

The iDM heat pump pioneers have already perfected efficient heat supply with the existing features of the iNTELLiGENT heat pump. With iON technology, an AI-based comprehensive energy optimization, we take it a step further: based on weather forecasts, variable electricity prices, and historical load profiles, we control your heat pump to achieve the best possible efficiency, optimally utilize photovoltaic yields, and comprehensively minimize your energy costs.

iNTELLiGENT CONNECTIVITY OF ALL COMPONENTS

Through iON and the intelligent, proactive integration with photovoltaic systems, battery storage, and the building mass, it is possible to optimize the areas of heat and electricity even more comprehensively. This leads to sector coupling that elevates efficiency and sustainability to a new level.

Your intelligent heat pump is compatible with many common inverters and energy management systems.

INTEGRATION OF EXTERNAL DATA

When there is a high supply of renewable energy—such as wind and solar—the electricity prices on the day-ahead market decrease. These favorable conditions are passed on to end consumers through hourly variable electricity rates. However, iON goes a step further and proactively considers the efficiency*) of your heat pump as well as the expected yield from your photovoltaic system. By creating an energy cost-optimized heat pump schedule, iON maximizes your energy efficiency and minimizes costs.

*) The efficiency of air source heat pumps is heavily dependent on the outside temperature. Switching based purely on electricity prices may increase costs.

USER BEHAVIOUR ANALYSIS AND USING THE BUILDING AS ENERGY STORAGE

By intelligently linking the heat and power supply, iON also takes into account the historical usage behavior of the residents (such as hot water consumption) and the thermal behavior of the building (e.g. heating and cooling behaviour). As a result, iON always determines the optimum time for heating, cooling and hot water preparation.

To use the building as an energy store, room temperatures need to be recorded. With iDM individual room control, iON can achieve the greatest cost savings.

STANDARD INTEGRATED HARDWARE

Many energy management systems require the purchase and installation of additional hardware. With iON, on the other hand, this is not needed. All the necessary components are already built into the intelligent heat pump from iDM. Simply install the iON software to get started!*.

*) iON is currently not available for all iDM heat pumps.

REDUCES THE CARBON FOOTPRINT

If a high volume of renewable energy from wind, sun and water is available, you not only benefit from favorable electricity prices, but also from significantly lower
CO₂ emissions. This means you save twice: both on electricity costs and on CO₂ emissions!

CONTRIBUTE TO THE STABILITY OF THE ELECTRIC GRID

By avoiding price peaks, iON also helps to reduce load peaks. This means that your heat pump is being operated in a gridfriendly manner and contributes to the stability of the electricity grid.

EVERYTHING AT A GLANCE

iON minimizes your heating costs automatically. Nevertheless, you can use the myiDM app to ensure that your intelligent heat pump is working properly at any time – even when you are on holiday.

YOUR WAY TO iON

AUSTRIA:
For iON to deliver its full performance, an hourly variable electricity tariff is required. Tariffs from different energy providers can be used, as long as prices are passed on to customers based on the power exchange EPEX Spot.

GERMANY:
For iON to deliver its full performance, an hourly variable electricity tariff is required. Tariffs from different energy providers can be used, as long as prices are passed on to customers based on the power exchange EPEX Spot.

One of the energy providers offering a suitable option for iON is stromee, with the tariff Mein iDM Strom.

Our iDM control technology (NAV10) already ensures that your heat pump operates at the optimal operating point at all times. With iON, we take it one step further: based on weather forecasts, hourly variable day-ahead electricity prices (EPEX Spot AT & DE), real PV data (if connected), PV yield forecasts, the predicted hot water demand, and a digital building model, iON controls your heat pump proactively. This allows low-cost electricity and PV phases to be used in a targeted way, minimizing your overall energy costs while maintaining comfort.

iON uses low-cost day-ahead electricity price periods, your PV self-generated electricity, the thermal storage capacity of your building, the daily efficiency of your heat pump, and the predicted hot water demand. The heat pump operates preferentially when energy is particularly cost-effective.

iON operates within a defined comfort range. Load shifting is deliberately limited to avoid any noticeable loss of comfort. The set comfort temperature is maintained. Currently, the comfort range is predefined to ensure a very high level of living comfort.

Compatibility can be checked in the myiDM app during the ordering process. If your system is not automatically recognized, a manual check can be requested directly in the app.

iON uses EPEX Spot day-ahead prices for Austria and Germany. Additional export countries will follow shortly.

Variable electricity tariffs adjust to current market electricity prices. This means your electricity prices can fluctuate depending on supply and demand. When there is a high share of renewable energy—such as wind and solar—prices on the day-ahead market decrease.

When a lot of renewable energy is available in the grid, electricity prices decrease. iON specifically uses these periods. Additionally, your own PV electricity is prioritized. This not only reduces your electricity costs but also your CO₂ emissions.

Yes, PV surplus can still be fed into the grid. However, iON primarily optimizes self-consumption.

If you do not yet have a smart meter, please contact your local grid operator. A smart meter is required to use a variable hourly electricity tariff.
